Chrystal is a Registered Massage Therapist in British Columbia and the owner of both Aspect Health & Registered Massage Therapy, and Clashes! Eyelash Extensions. While Chrystal has always been an avid learner and casual writer, she wrote her first book The Clashes Eyelash Extension Manual after she fell into the lash extension industry almost by mistake. Chrystal suffered a somewhat traumatic injury to her leg and ankle, which resulted in some permanent changes and chronic pain that meant she could no longer offer massage therapy full-time. With her clinic sitting unused 4-days a week, offering lash extensions seemed like the perfect fit! And she was right, except after doing a little research and then paying heavily (just short of $1000) for a condensed one-on-one course with a seasoned instructor, it turns out the lash extension industry is totally unregulated, which means, there are no consumer guarantees and no set standards for education or practice! The process of applying semi-permanent synthetic lashes includes applying a form of super glue just millimeters from the eyelid. While there are very few reported cases of things going wrong, they certainly can and do happen. Chrystal feels eyelash extension artists should be more knowledgeable and better prepared in case something does go wrong. Throughout her massage therapy education and practice Chrystal has become familiar with the anatomy and physiology of the eyeballs, eyelashes and skin surrounding the eyes.
