Nostalgic prose from old Ireland. I am 81 years now and am retired 16 years. I never married. I bought a computer 6 years ago and have been writing prose since then. Prose is known as ‘ordinary writing’ and I like trying to put words together. A few topics I write about are birds, cats in my backyard, the weather, even items of furniture. Anything that takes my fancy; most anything I see. This is what I write about. Joe O’ Sullivan (Cork City) 25-10-16

I worked in the building industry with my late father and late brother working as an apprentice mason/bricklayer for five years, which was the usual length of time in those days. My five brothers and two uncles and nephew also worked in the trade. When work became slack at home, many trades people would go to England. It was quite near and work was easier to come by. For my own part from 1957/58 to 1988, that was the lifestyle on and off. I am 81 years now and am retired 16 years. I never married. I bought a computer 6 years ago and have been writing prose since then. Prose is known as ‘ordinary writing’ and I like trying to put words together. Prose is a helpful hobby to adopt and it is interesting. A few topics I write about are birds, cats in my backyard, the weather, even items of furniture. Anything that takes my fancy; most anything I see. This is what I write about. Joe O’ Sullivan (Cork City) 25-10-16
