Synopsis

Selected from a body of work created over many years, this anthology is one of five that form the larger volume, Shadowed Realities. Shadowed seemed to be an appropriate word to describe the general sense and mood of most of the poems from which these have been gathered. Though their subject matter, form, length and themes are different they reflect a point of view and mindset that has remained remarkably unchanged over an entire adult lifetime. In this volume, Shadowed Souls, the poems have been selected on the basis that they all seem to reflect upon some aspect of lives that are lived in the shadow of a fate that for these souls seems unavoidable. Through the use of allegorical figures and autobiographical refection it is hoped that in this anthology readers will recognise aspects of their own everyday experiences and acquaintances. It is also hoped it will be the trigger for debate and reflection.
