The “Old Man” is a Vietnam War Veteran and a life long outdoors man with over 50 years of fly fishing experience. His great grandfather instilled his love for the outdoors teaching him respect for nature and how to fish with a cane pole, string and a worm. It was after his service in Viet Nam, that he learned fly-fishing from a close friend. A meticulous note taker, he created a journal of his experiences over time. As a member of Valley Forge Trout Unlimited, he became active as a volunteer in the Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing program at the Coatesville Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Shortly thereafter, he took on the responsibility of initiating a second program for outpatients, Project Healing Waters - West Bradford, to further assist active duty and retired veterans in their overall rehabilitation through fly-fishing. He chose the pen name “The Old Man” out of respect for his shipboard captain having taught him leadership through example. He is honored to be the old man for some of the finest men, both veterans and volunteers that he has ever met.
