Synopsis

First published in 1901, this novel by best-selling author Guy Boothby tells story of three men in the jungles of Burma who find an amazing treasure in the form of rubies and sapphires. One of the men sneaks off with the majority of the jewels and leaves the other two to the mercy of the Chinese. Later, back in England, the two stranded treasure hunters turn up at the office of a detective. They want him to find their “partner” and retrieve the jewels. The two men are in pretty bad shape: one has been blinded, and the other has had his tongue cut out, but the chase roams all over London and through Paris and parts of Italy...
