Dr John Sloan is a recently retired UK NHS Consultant. He came to Christ at medical school, then trained in surgery and emergency medicine, working in the UK NHS for 38 years. He is married to Myra, also a doctor, and they have 3 grown up offspring and 7 grandchildren. Almost 20 years ago they founded the New Hope charity to bring the good news of Jesus to poor overseas settings. It now functions in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and the Philippines running medical clinics and extending the gospel (www.newhope.co.uk). To date John and Myra estimate that over 300,000 adults and children have been treated and over 30,000 have responded to the gospel with several new churches being planted. They have also planted two churches in the UK.
