Stephen J. Kelley started his professional career as a journalist and photographer. After about a decade he decided to try his hand at business, where he excelled beyond what he expected. After a lifetime of building businesses, working in finance, and consulting with some of the world's largest companies, he learned the hard way in 2001 that while he might understand corporate finance, he really didn't know much of anything when it came to his own personal finances. As he learned the financial services business, he began finding out things that were just the opposite of what he had been told. So many of the financial decisions he made for his own life at the recommendation of financial planners, stock brokers, registered reps, and insurance producers turned out not to be just wrong, but in many cases were the worst thing he could have done...for him and his family. Not, however, for the people who were making the recommendations. So, drawing on his journalism background, he started by writing booklets. Booklets soon became e-books, which became published books that are now available at fine bookstores as well as the major online retailers. In addition to "Ready. Set. Retire!" he is the author of "Safe Harbors That Can Reduce Taxes, Remove Risk, and Protect Your Retirement," Retirement Planning Riches: The Easiest Way to Guarantee a Lifetime of Safe Retirement Income without Risk." and "Tell Me When You're Going to Die and I'll show you how well you can afford to live."
