Synopsis

Sitting right next to Proverbs, one of the most helpful and hopeful of the Old Testament books, is this skeptical book called Ecclesiastes. Written by King Solomon, the most wealthy, powerful and wise of Jewish rulers, it may move us to ask how this book can even be part of the Bible. The writer has examined everything about life and tells us it's all meaningless. But God has a message for modern people who are looking for purpose in life. If your life is based on yourself and lived without God, it's headed for failure. All is vanity and emptiness unless God is the center of life. The author is a pastor in a conservative Lutheran Church body, and he leads us through this book to help us understand how we can apply its words and concepts to our daily lives. It's useful for personal or group Bible study.
