Synopsis

In 2222 a manhunt sends an aging detective undercover as a prison inmate competing for entry into an unusual rehabilitation program. Rehab’s final phase is a cattle drive on a dynastic family’s private planet ridiculed as a for-profit penal colony. Preparation entails learning the field craft and firearms used in the Wild West. Those selected will live by their skills and survival is their ticket to a second chance. While pursuing his mark, Detective Winters joins international convicts turned cowhands in pushing livestock across dangerous wilderness. His attempts to foster teamwork among strong-willed, hot-blooded men and women are met with mirth and perplexity. The trail takes them through territory in concession to descendants of First Americans and plagued by renegade ex-cons. Indigenous extraterrestrials and Pleistocene mega fauna they can handle, but a series of bloody surprises severely tests their mettle. Winters begins to wonder if the oft-heard phrase, “you are not alone,” is more curse than benediction.
