I was adopted. I have this incessant need to find exactly where I belong. These poems are made of my most honest voice, reactions, and feelings, towards being on my side of a closed adoption.

Michelle is a spoken word artist who rides the moon’s gravitational pull. Her writing is all ocean. She has been both a hurricane and a calm sea. Reading her poems is like learning to swim and coming out on the other side of a storm. She lives in Richmond, Virginia. She was on Slam Richmond's adult team, that went to the National Poetry Slam in 2013. In 2016, she became a TedxRVA speaker/performer, along with a Watering Hole Writing Retreat Fellow. She was also on The Writer's Den Slam Team in 2016, that attended Southernfried (the largest regional competition in the USA for slam poetry). In 2017, she became a member of The Writer’s Den Poetry Slam Team, that represented Richmond, Virginia at Southernfried. The Writer’s Den team placed 6th in the south. She is currently one of the coaches of the Virginia Union University slam team, and was recently named as the Program Director for The Writer's Den LLC. She works with local schools, from elementary grades to high school, to host writing and performance workshops.
