Synopsis
"The Sheik" is a 1919 novel by Edith Maude Hull, an English novelist of the early twentieth century. It was a huge bestseller and the most popular of her books, and it served as the basis for the film of the same name starring Rudolph Valentino in the title role. When it was published, it was considered an erotic novel and variously described in the press as "shocking" and "poisonously.

About the Author
Edith Maude Hull (1880–1947), también conocida como E. M. Hull, fue una novelista de romance británica. Su fama llegaría con la publicación de "El sheik", que daría inicio al llamado romance desértico y sería todo un best-seller en 1921.
