À propos de l'auteur

Norman E. Land is a native of Richmond, Virginia. For two years he attended the Virginia Military Institute on a football scholarship. Later, he enrolled in the Richmond Professional Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University), where, in 1968, he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting. In 1974 he graduated from the University of Virginia, where he earned a Master of Arts degree in art history and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Italian Renaissance and Baroque art history, which subject he taught at the University of Missouri-Columbia from 1974 until he retired in 2015. In 1992-1993 he was the Dorothy K. Hohenberg Chair of Excellence in Art History in the Art Department at Memphis State University (now University of Memphis). He is the author of numerous publications, including The Viewer As Poet: The Renaissance Response to Art (Pennsylvania State University Press, 1994).
