Bonita Rivas Johnson's Out the Window poems are powerful and compelling. When a serious illness changes the view outside her window from watching "Children laugh and splash with joy through puddles" to "only silence" she perseveres and rebuilds her life. She also gives a raw portrayal of life in a nursing home where "Ruth rants and raves" and "Hattie cries for her daughter." The book also includes a series of out the window poems by Paul Fowler. His views out the window include "broken pavements and cracked roads" and "plastic bags stuck in trees" and includes one poem where he literally writes what he's seeing as he sees it. Overall an interesting read Victoria Rivas - author - ‘Yo Miss! I Need a Pencil’
