Synopsis
It is the Eve of Margaret Becket’s seventeenth birthday when a terrible tragedy occurs in the Coastal Town of Whitley. Residents, Business people and Holidaymakers alike are stunned, shocked and living in Fear. There is a killer prowling the streets. The story, set in 2013, follows the effects this dreadful period has on the various people who, unknowingly, come into contact with the man known as, The Whitley Ripper, and how in their own way, come to terms with the knowledge that there is living amongst them a crazed sadistic killer in the midst of the hot summer nights, sending shock waves across the County. It is the local Detective Inspector, Tom Garforth’s first confrontation with murder and, being against such a clever, intelligent, murderous adversary, he is almost out of his depth Inspector Roger Williamson, an experienced, hardened, homicide detective, is seconded from Manchester to help Tayforth, in the hunt for the Killer.
