Synopsis
Reading German leads to a second year reading knowledge of German in just 12 weeks. The program meets the needs of students by combining innovative multimedia technology and advanced didactics. Through the use of these materials students will obtain a level of proficiency in understanding cultural, scientific, and scholarly material written in German. Reading German provides basic grammar and practice in translating into English texts in the natural sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities.

Dr. Jörg Matthias-Roche is a professor of German as a Foreign Language at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany, where he also directs the Multimedia Research and Development Laboratory (“Werk-Stadt”). His work focuses on intercultural communication and the use of new media in language learning.
