Occupational Therapy Models for Intervention with Children and Families delves into contemporary theoretical models that empower occupational therapists to engage with families in a holistic, occupation-centered way. This dynamic text provides up-to-date insights on considering environmental and familial contexts to address diverse occupational needs across various settings. Sandra Barker Dunbar presents numerous case scenarios featuring culturally diverse populations and differing diagnoses of children with occupational challenges. Contributions from 11 esteemed leaders in occupational therapy enhance the text, aiming to deepen understanding of theoretical models and their relevance to current practice with children and families. The book examines traditional pediatric practice frameworks, such as sensory integration and neurodevelopmental treatment, while also discussing modern theoretical models like the Model of Human Occupation, the Person-Environment-Occupation model, the Ecology of Human Performance model, and the Occupational Adaptation model. The new Occupational Therapy Practice Framework is integrated throughout, reinforcing its practical application. This essential resource serves as a valuable tool for students at all levels of their curriculum, addressing a critical aspect of pediatric occupational therapy practice.
