WILLIAM J. KROWINSKI, BCD, is a research consultant and clinical practitioner in Erie, Pennsylvania. He has held faculty positions at Gannon University and the University of Pittsburgh, where he taught research methods and statistics. Dr. Krowinski was previously employed by Hamot Health Systems of Erie and the Health Education Center of Pittsburgh, where he managed research functions. He holds his doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh. STEVEN R. STEIBER, is a senior vice–president and health care practice director of Opinion Research Corporation (formerly known as Quality Expectations, Inc.), an international market research organization based in Princeton, New Jersey. Prior to 1996, Dr. Steiber was president of Quality Expectations, Inc., a health care consulting group. Dr. Steiber was senior vice–president for research and development with the Gallup Organiztion following its merger with Allied Research Associates between 1986 and 1988. Prior to the merger, Dr. Steiber was chief executive officer of Allied Research Associates, and between 1979 and 1981, he was senior research associate with the American Medical Association′s Center for Health Policy Research. He holds a doctorate from the University of Arizona and has served on two other academic faculties. His research has appeared in most major health care publications.
