JOSEPH M. DELUCA, has worked closely with national health care leaders in the design and implementation of integrated delivery systems, focusing on the strategic use of information systems technology to support business and medical service requirements. In 1985, he founded JDA, a health care technology consulting firm serving provider organizations of all sizes and orientations: acute care, pediatric, research, and university hospitals; integrated delivery systems; medical groups; and managed care organizations.A fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, Mr. DeLuca holds a master of arts degree in health services administration from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and a bachelor of arts degree in biology, magna cum laude, from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. Over the course of his career, he has worked in the direct management of health care facilities, business/medical service and IT consulting, and information systems product development and market entry, as well as emerging technology feasibility planning.Mr. DeLuca is a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences and is widely published on information technology topics in industry journals and monographs. His first book (with Owen Doyle), Health Care Information Systems: An Executive′s Guide for Successful Management, was published by American Hospital Association in 1991. Currently, he is working on another book for American Hospital Publishing. REBECCA ENMARK CAGAN specializes in IT research and investigation, currently focusing on products and vAndors serving the health care industry. At JDA, she develops and maintains the industry research base, a comprehensive collection of product and vAndor information covering nearly 1,000 commercial health care IT vAndors.Ms. Cagan holds a master′s degree in library and information studies and a bachelor of arts in English literature from the University of California at Berkeley. In 1994, she was research manager for Quality Measurement Systems: Strategies, Product Profiles and Healthcare Information Systems Capabilities (JDA, San Francisco). Currently, she is working with Mr. DeLuca on his next book.
