Synopsis

"The Bible is the book of promise... this is its foremost character and message." What are the Bible's promises? And how do we, as Christians, live within and for that promise every day? These thirteen hopeful messages from Alton Wedel are designed to help you communicate God's essential promise to your congregation in a clear and relevant voice.

Within are sermons for every Cycle C gospel text during the last third of the Pentecost season from the Common, Lutheran, and Roman Catholic lectionaries, including:
- The Day You Were Healed
- An Encounter with Two Old Friends
- Heaven Can't Wait
- The Gospel of the Little Man
- Are There Any Questions?
- Christ Is King
and seven more.

Use these complete sermons as presented -- or as creative inspiration for your own personal messages.

Alton F. Wedel brings to this little book of sermons more than four decades of experience in the pulpits of parishes that range from rural to small city to major suburban and finally to a central city congregation in Minneapolis. That experience is reflected in four previously published works and in sermons that have been included in fifteen homiletical publications of major church publishers. His lectures on preaching have been heard in seminaries and pastoral groups throughout the Mid West. Now in Naples, Florida, his retirement from parish work involves a continued ministry in writing, teaching, and lecturing.
