Synopsis

Excuse Me, Did You Know Him? includes eight sermons and orders of service for the Sundays of Lent, Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Each sermon is in the form of a story.

Brownlee's insightful biblical scholarship finds a graceful helpmate in his ability to tell compelling stories. His fresh approach to storytelling is much needed today, and I predict a wide readership for his book, and as a result, a breath of fresh air in the church.
C. William Nichols
General Minister and President
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

He develops his stories' characters until they become recognizable friends and acquaintances. His characters speak in an idiom and with a rhythm, which sounds like it is from down the street or even from the next room.
Peter M. Morgan
Center for Congregational Vitality
Division of Homeland Ministries
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

Brownlee's ability to discern the gospel in the stuff of everyday life is a gift, which he shares joyfully with his readers.
William B. Allen
Regional Minister
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in West Virginia

Jack Brownlee, Moundsville, West Virginia, is pastor of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Parkersburg. He graduated from Eureka College (Illinois) and holds a master's of divinity degree from Christian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis.
