ALBERT ELLIS, psychotherapist, author, researcher and founder of the NYC-based Albert Ellis Institute. Dr. Albert Ellis (1913-2007), American psychologist and psychotherapist, is considered one of the originators of the cognitive revolutionary paradigm shift in psychotherapy and an early proponent and developer of cognitive behavior therapies. Ellis named his approach 'rational emotive behavior therapy' (REBT). In 1947, Albert Ellis took his PhD in clinical psychology at Columbia and at that time Ellis believed psychoanalysis was the deepest and most effective form of therapy. After receiving his PhD Ellis began a Jungian analysis at the Karen Horney Institute-- but Ellis's faith in psychoanalysis was gradually crumbling. The writings of Karen Horney, Alfred Adler, Erich Fromm and Harry Sullivan Stack would be some of the influences in Ellis's thinking and play a role in shaping his psychological models. Ellis acknowledged his rational emotive therapy was "by no means entirely new". In Jan. 1953, Ellis's break with psychoanalysis was complete and he began calling himself a rational therapist. In fine collectible condition. Signed by Author(s). Book. N° de réf. du vendeur bnp150
