Hans-Georg Soeffner is professor of sociology at the University of Konstanz in Germany. He has been a visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley, as well as in Austria and Switzerland. His most recent work is Germany: Once Again a -Belated Nation.- The Order of Rituals was translated from German by Mara Luckmann, who has translated a wide variety of books, articles, and essays in the field of sociology.
