Synopsis

Contemporary designs and unique materials come together in this expanded book of projects, ideas, and shop talk for turning out fine writing implements. Six projects from the original edition are joined by new pens, more troubleshooting, and new materials geared toward experimenting with new media as well as making the most out of small pieces of stock. An expanded basics section offers new information on tools and adhesives and a section on sharpening will keep the blades of more experienced turners honed. Fine finishes - from snake skin to 24-karat gold - are also explained, as are other embellishments such as laser engraving and plastic inserts. A seller's section with marketing advice and a gallery of inspiring samples make this collection of functional art a valuable addition to the workshop.
