The author grew up on a farm near a small town in eastern Aizona. He attended the University of Arizona, the University of California (Berkeley) and Stanford University. He has a Bachelor's degree in Busines, majoring in accounting, and a Juris Doctorate degree. He practiced law as a tax attorney, specializing in trusts, estate planning, acquisitions and mergers. He and his wife of over half a centruy have thee sons holding Bachelor, MBA and Juris Doctorate degrees. They have 20 grandchildren and almost as many great-grandchildren. He and his three sons formed Provicence First Trust Company, an independent, licensed trust company, more than 20 years ago, which has grown into a substanial business. He served eight and a half years (not consecutively) as a self-supporting full-time missionary for his Church, six of those years with his wife, in French speaking areas on three continents.
