André Frantois (1915-2005) was an influential, Romanian-born French artist. He painted, sculpted, designed posters and theater stages, and worked in graphic design but became best known for his work as a cartoonist. His illustrations--often satirical, surrealist, and black-and-white--have been published around the world in magazines and books, including the acclaimed children's book Crocodile Tears.
