Synopsis

In October 2021, after close to seventy years since the historic We Charge Genocide petition was brought to the United Nations by Paul Robeson, William Patterson, and W.E.B. DuBois (in absentia), a historic gathering took place in New York City asserting that genocide was still being perpetrated within the USA. The International Tribunal on US Human Rights Abuses Against Black, Brown, and Indigenous Peoples brought together original Black Panthers and civil rights campaigners, Puerto Rican independence activists and Native American elders, along with scores of supporters from across the empire. An independent panel of jurists was made up of nine experts in international law, genocidal practices, human rights policies, indigenous cultures-all to hear testimony on five counts of US governmental abuse. After intense review, the independent panel, in a verdict released at the Inter-faith Church Center for the United Nations, unanimously affirmed: the US remains GUILTY OF GENOCIDE!

Jihad Abdulmumit is a founding Coordinating Committee member of the Spirit of Mandela coalition/People's Senate, and served as Chief Assistance to Counsel for the 2021 International Tribunal on US Human Rights Abuses Against Black, Brown, and Indigenous Peoples. He has also served as the Chairperson of the National Jericho Movement, which supports political prisoners in the United States and campaigns to win their freedom.

Matt Meyer is an internationally noted historian, educator, and organiser, Secretary General Emeritus of the International Peace Research Association. Meyer is also the Senior Research scholar at the University of Massachusetts/Amherst's Resistance Studies Initiative. The author/editor of over a dozen books, Meyers most recent publication is Beyond Our Current Boundaries: Peace Studies from Africa and the Global South (Africa World Press, 2025).

Tomiko Shine is a cultural anthropologist, co-founder and leader of the organisation Aging People in Prison Human Rights Campaign. The Campaign advocates for the release of aging people in prison and recognition of their human rights. Shine was co-editor of the journal We Still Charge Genocide, the program booklet of the 2021 International Tribunal.
