In September 1939, the family Wacs saved their lives by fleeing Vienna as Nazi Austria turned on the Jews. They left for Shanghai, to them a completely alien culture, a week before war broke out. Unique and poignant, this memoir addresses universal issues: persecution and the will to survive. Written by a brother and sister, their differing memories of the same events form a moving portrait of a family uprooted. The authors, who now live in the USA, will be personally promoting the book through a variety of media.
