Freedom isn't free. Thousands of American soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, and members of the Coast Guard paid dearly for our freedom. Many lost their lives, suffered years of torture in prisoner of war camps, endured excruciating pain, returned with permanent mental and physical wounds, lost limbs, spent years away from their families, and were witness to indescribable horrors that they will never forget. We should never forget them nor the enormous sacrifices they made to keep this land free. This story is about one of these soldiers. Written by my mother Lavonne Miller as told to her from her neighbor and friend, Charlie Moore. This is his true story. He survived the Bataan Death March and the Hell Ships.
