Jan Bode Smiley is the author of four books: Scrapbooks on the Go, The Art of Fabric Books, Altered Board Book Basics and Beyond, and Focus on Batiks. She continues to enjoy the process and discovery of creating work for publication. Jan is currently working with many different media, including fabric, paint, wood, paper, and found objects. She began her artistic life as a quiltmaker and continues to build on those skills while experimenting with other art forms. She loves to share her interest in merging media and teaches workshops internationally. Jan lives in South Carolina with her husband and two children. She serves on her local school board, loves to take long walks, practices karate, and enjoys letterboxing. Her favorite way to start the day is to take her journal and a favorite pen to a coffee shop.
