Synopsis

Now the unemployed can implement techniques used by Olympic athletes to overcome fear and doubt, gain confidence, and focus on and achieve desired career goals. Author Lynn Joseph, a Fortune 100 corporate consultant, and career transition coach and psychologist, shows readers how to use a powerfully quick and effective visualization program to bounce back after being laid off. Creative visualization, also called mental imagery, is the same method used by top athletes to increase confidence and achieve peak performance. Readers are taught to use this process to "meet their inner coach," and use mental rehearsal techniques that allow them to observe themselves in a job interview, which they can stop, rewind, and play back until they visualize having the perfect interview. Readers then learn specific ways to increase confidence, motivation, performance, and gain a positive attitude. This makes setting goals and gearing-up emotionally for a successful job search more possible. The ideas, strategies, and techniques contained in this guide grew out of the author's landmark research of successful career transition - a study that was subsequently published in the prestigious Consulting Psychology Journal, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Psychological Association, and led to a profile in Fortune magazine.
