Dr. James Gavin brings more than 25 years of experience as a health care provider to men, women, and children of the African American community. A comprehensive book on health, it covers vital topics that are of particular concern to the African American population, including heart disease and high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, and obesity. What makes Dr. Gavin's book even more unique is that he takes an intergenerational, family-centered approach to health, letting readers know that they do no have to suffer the same fate as their grandparents such as amputation or dialysis. He'll tell enlightening stories of other patients who triumphed over the same or similar health adversities and show readers new ways to break the cycle of poor health. In addition, Dr. Gavin provides the tools African Americans need to better manage their diabetes, blood pressure, and blood sugar.
