Synopsis

Pinch’s Aunt Hasty is staying true to her name. After selling her house before finding a new home, she realizes she doesn’t have a place for her couch so she sends it off to Pinch to take care of in the meantime. When movers show up at Pinch’s house with this most unwelcome gift, Pinch is outraged. This terrible couch with daring dashes of red doesn’t match his blue curtains, plus it won’t fit in his cozy house!

Pinch’s neighbor, Dash, comes to his friend’s rescue. Together they push. They shove. They try to find a place for the couch. Finally, Pinch comes up with a solution that will please both him and Dash.

Readers will enjoy watching the antics of the duo that was first introduced in PINCH AND DASH MAKE SOUP. Simple, yet satisfying, the second offering in this early reader series shows that you don’t always have to see eye to eye to build a lasting friendship.

Pinch sat in his snug chair. He was reading a cookbook. The doorbell rang. Ding-dong.
Pinch ignored the bell. He was lazy. Ding-dong. The cookbook was very good. Ding-dong. Ding-dong! DING-DONG! The bell was hard to ignore, even for a lazy person with a good cookbook.
“Maybe it is Dash,” Pinch thought. “Maybe he wants to invite me to lunch.”
He closed the cookbook. He went to answer the doorbell.
            Pinch opened the door.
A couch stood on his top step.
“Why is a couch ringing my bell?” Pinch asked.
“The couch is not ringing your bell,” said a voice. “I am.”
The voice belonged to someone standing in the flowerbed.
“We saw you sitting in there,” said a second voice. It came from the other end of the couch.
“We rang and rang,” said the first voice. “What took you so long?
