Joan Ifland was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. She received her B.A. in economics and political science from Oberlin College, Ohio. After a stint on the fiscal staff of the Wisconsin Legislature, she earned an M.B.A. from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. She worked in corporate finance for five years for a Fortune 100 company. After forty-three years of declining physical and emotional health, Joan began eliminating refined carbohydrates from her diet. The miraculous recovery from numerous illnesses for her and her family prompted her to share her experience and knowledge of how to manage a life free from refined carbohydrates. Today, Joan is devoted to spreading the word about recovery from carbohydrate sensitivity. She lectures, coaches, and holds seminars. She lives in Houston, Texas. She has been married since 1978 to her husband, an investment banker. Their two daughters were born in 1983 and 1984.
