Harry P. Davis was born in Mobile Alabama and spent his youth alternating from the salty waters of the Gulf of Mexico to the ponds of Waynesboro, Mississippi learning of the wiles of wary fish from his Dad, Jim A. Davis Harry is now a resident of Daphne Alabama. He has been fishing for as long as he can remember and flyfishing since the age of 11. Harry produced and co-hosted the TV show High Country Outdoors in 1993 under the name Phil Davis. Harry has been writing almost as long as he has been fishing. He was encouraged by his 5th grade teacher Mrs Robinson Adelia Williams Elementary School) who liked a poem he wrote about building a cabin. Harry worked for a newspaper in Randolph County Alabama in the eighties called The Randolph Press as reporter and later started a small newspaper called The BackWaters Journal located in Wedowee Alabama. Guerrilla Flyfishing is Harry’s first published book. He has a collection of poems called The Revenge of the Highlanders and other works in progress. In 1999 Harry traveled to Honduras to study the possibilities of establishing fish ponds as a means of providing food for rural Hondurans. He worked with Youth For Christ in San Pedro Sula and established several healthy tanks of Tilapia before the funds ran out and he turned over the stockers to a missionary church that began raising the fish to give away. He writes outdoor articles and columns on a freelance basis for local newspapers. Details on his book, classes and hosted fishing trips can be found at: http://www.harryoutdoors.com
