Synopsis
Le début de l'ourdou est un ajout bienvenu à l'étude des langues sud-asiatiques. Je félicite ce livre pour son exactitude, sa rigueur et son utilité. En parcourant le livre, on peut clairement voir que les auteurs ont une compréhension méticuleuse des principes de la pédagogie langagière et un habileté à présenter du matériel avec une grande sensibilité aux besoins des apprenants. Pien est chercheur à la faculté et spécialiste des langues hindi-ourdou au National Foreign Language Center de l'Université du Maryland. Auparavant, il était professeur adjoint d'hindi au Defense Language Institute de Monterey, en Californie. Il a également enseigné l'hindi à l'Université du Wisconsin. Fauzia Farooqui enseigne l'ourdou et l'hindi à l'Université de Princeton. Elle a également enseigné l'ourdou-hindi dans diverses autres institutions, notamment à l'Université de Virginie, au Defence Language Institute, à l'Université du Michigan et à l'American Institute of Indian Studies de Lucknow, en Inde. À propos de l'auteur
Joshua H. Pien is a faculty researcher and Hindi-Urdu language specialist at the National Foreign Language Center at the University of Maryland. Previously he was an assistant professor of Hindi at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California. He has also taught Hindi at the University of Wisconsin.
Fauzia Farooqui teaches Urdu and Hindi at Princeton University. She has also taught Urdu-Hindi at various other institutions, including the University of Virginia, the Defense Language Institute, University of Michigan, and the American Institute of Indian Studies in Lucknow, India. Her other publications include a monograph on the prose poem in Urdu and various original pieces of poetry, short fiction, and literary criticism, which have appeared in leading Urdu literary journals.
