Harriet G. Cooke received her professional engineering license in North Carolina in 1998. She holds three patents and several trade secrets, and has written a series of technical papers. Ms. Cooke received her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1991. Soon after, she became a member of the design team that created what was at that time the world’s largest fiber optic cabling machine. The problems in this book are drawn from real-world situations encountered by Ms. Cooke during her long and varied career.
