This study provides discussions about the implementation of secularisation in Ghana. Central to the analysis is the formation of the Islamic Education Unit (IEU), which is mandated to introduce secular subjects into Islamic schools. It includes extensive field interviews and statistical information to evaluate the role of the IEU, reviews the outcome of the secularisation of Islamic schools from the experiment in Northern Ghana to the rest of the country and evaluates the impact of the national policy of secular education on Arabic education and Islamic knowledge.
