Synopsis
Valley of Strength presents the Israeli classic , Gai Oni, in English for the first time. This scenic, moving novel, set at the end of the 19th century, follows seven years in the life of a Galilee settlement, the precursor to the town of Rosh Pina, through the trials and experiences of Fania, a young pioneer. Through this coming of age story, readers confront the realities of the Yishuv its physical hardships, ethnic tensions and ideological debates. Translated by Philip Simpson.
