Biographie de l'auteur

Sinclair Lewis was born in Minnesota in 1885. He wrote his first novel, OUR MR WRENN, in 1914, but achieved little success until the publication of MAIN STREET in 1920. He popularity as a satirical novelist increased with BABBIT (1922), MARTIN ARROWSMITH (1924), ELMER GANTRY (1927), and DODSWORTH (1929). He refused a Pulitzer Prize in 1927, but three years later accepted the Nobel Prize for Literature, being the first American to receive the award. Sinclair Lewis died in Rome, 1951.
