Palmer is a professor of entomology at the University of Maryland and director of the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Sciences. Joy B. Zedler is the Aldo Leopold Chair of Restoration Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
