Over 150 million Americans know Wally Amos. Wally founded Famous Amos Cookies in 1975 and is considered the father of the gourmet chocolate-chip cookie industry. In 1992, he formed Uncle Wally's Muffin Company, which produces a full line of muffins.Wally's fame is grounded in quality, substance, and a positive attitude, and he has used his fame to support many educational causes. He was National Spokesman for Literacy Volunteers of America from 1979 until 2002, when they merged with Laubach Literacy Council to create ProLiteracy Worldwide. He now refers to himself as a literacy advocate whose primary focus is creating awareness of the values and benefits of reading aloud to children. His most recent venture is Chip and Cookie, LLC, a retail store in Hawaii and online at www.chipandcookie.com, a business featuring two chocolate-chip cookie plush character dolls, Chip & Cookie, that help teach children to read.
Wally has received many honors and awards for his achievements as an entrepreneur and his support of educational causes. He has written several books and acted in a number of network sitcoms, as well as appearing on hundreds of interview shows, news programs, educational programs, and commercials. On the lecture circuit, he addresses audiences at corporations, industry associations, and universities with his inspiring -do it- philosophy. Wally's story is a testament to the role of positive thinking in creating a meaningful and successful life.
