George Jaslin is a retired rehabilitation consultant and minister to the deaf. He lives in Springfield, MO. He is a late deafened adult. He is also the author of a textbook for teaching American Sign Language (ASL) and an ASL dictionary - and this book. This novel is his first work of fiction. There are many good textbooks on deaf culture but none of them are as much fun to read as 'A Life After Deafness'. Follow along with Rick Snider, retired rehabilitation counselor, as he introduces you to many deaf people. Learn more about deafness, deaf culture, and American Sign Language from “real”deaf people. Join them as they meet each month to play games and share stories. Their stories present much infomunion about their culture. You may know these people, or at least some people like these who live in the little town of Red Bluff, Missouri. You will meet fifty deaf people in A Life After Deafness - some good folks and some that aren't that great, some employed folks and some on SSI, old, young and in between. These deaf people share a common culture, but, as with the non-deaf each person is an individual. They have different lifestyles and different levels of education, the commonality is that they are all deaf. The leading character is Anna who finally breaks away from domineering parents. You will enjoy Anna and Bob as they go from being supportive friends tobeing married and later to parenthood. Oh, and by the way, this story involves a murder!
