Quilter Tonye Belinda Phillips' passion for folk art inspired her to develop a simple method for making stunning hand-appliquéd quilts. In this beautiful volume, Tonye reveals the techniques she's discovered on her quilting journey: ideas for choosing fabrics, working with colour and creating the applique shapes, as well as placing, basting and stitching them up. The 20 bright and cheerful projects include a basic basket-shaped pattern, an updated floral motif with playful spirals and a garden-themed design with watering cans.
After many years of knitting, embroidery and cross-stitch, Tonye Belinda Phillips discovered and fell in love with quilting, especially hand quilting and applique. She teaches an occasional quilting or knitting class at The Stitchin' Post in Sisters, Oregon and her work has been featured in several publications including Transitions, by Andrea Balosky, Through the Garden Gate, by Jean and Valori Wells and Quilted Memories, by Mary Lou Weidman.
