À propos de l'auteur

Keith Laumer was an American science fiction writer whose work combined military experience, diplomatic satire, adventure plotting, and a sharp instinct for speculative escalation. Born in 1925, Laumer served in the United States Air Force and later worked in the American diplomatic service, backgrounds that informed both his comic and action-oriented fiction. He became especially well known for the Retief series, which satirised bureaucracy and diplomacy, and for the Bolo stories, which helped define one of science fiction's enduring traditions of intelligent war machines.Laumer's fiction often moves quickly from an apparently manageable situation into danger, absurdity, or large-scale speculative consequence. His stories are marked by direct prose, brisk plotting, mechanical and military imagination, and a willingness to mix adventure with irony. It Could Be Anything shows Laumer working in the compact form of classic magazine science fiction, where uncertainty, menace, and a sharp central idea drive the story forward.
