À propos de l'auteur

Marijke De Roo Westberg was born in 1942, in a prison camp in Java, Indonesia. At four years of age her family was transported to the Netherlands. Life there was terrible, as the nation struggled with the after affects of bombing and occupation during the war. But she found her joy in books, and developed a talent in drawing. In 1952, the family emigrated to America, first to Lexington, Mass., then to Windsor, Conn. When on her twelfth birthday an aunt gave her a set of "paint by numbers" oil painting kit, her passion became painting. Marijke earned a B.A. degree at the Univ. of Conn.; then followed a home study course in Commercial Art with Famous Artists of Conn., while being a stay at home wife and mother. She followed a career in printing, culminating as a four color separation technician from the Printers of America. When she and her husband, Carl, retired from jobs in Conn., they moved to Vermont and a simpler life. Marijke took up painting in earnest and mastered the art of watercolor by taking many workshops with well known artists. She is a signature member of the Vermont Watercolor Society, and has shown with them in several Vermont galleries. Her desire to share her artwork with a wider audience has inspired her to write this story book.
