Synopsis

Early in the 20th century Clarence Day found success with his autobiographical book Life with Father. Day began as a stockbroker and then joined the Navy. His arthritis made him an invalid at an early age. In 1920 his first book This Simian World was published. This book consisted of a series of humorous essays and illustrations. The Simian World looks at man's simian characteristics. Day speculates on how man might have been better off if we had evolved from ants, bees, dogs cats, or even elephants. Clarence Day travels back in time to examine the species existing after the great saurians had been swept from the earth. Day's use of gentle satire helps make this book a delightful book to ponder.

Présentation de l'éditeur

Last Sunday, Potter took me out driving along upper Broadway, where those long rows of tall new apartment houses were built a few years ago. It was a mild afternoon and great crowds of people were out. Sunday afternoon crowds. They were not going anywhere,--they were just strolling up and down, staring at each other, and talking. There were thousands and thousands of them.
