This textbook is truly unique. In twenty-five chapters and less than 200 pages, we introduce the student to the full range of microeconomic topics: the consumer, the firm and its cost structure, varying market structures, market failures, the labor market, individual income determination, and comparative advantage and trade, all well and rigorously covered. Additionally, there is a chapter devoted to the highly competitive foreign exchange market, helping the student bridge the gap between microeconomics and macroeconomics. Also, unique to the introductory textbook, there is a careful and rigorous derivation of the linkage between the input and output markets. For instance, with a change in consumer demand, we trace the effects with output, both with the market and the representative firm and with the input (labor), both with the market and the representative firm. The text can be used for courses in Advanced Placement Microeconomics, International Baccalaureate Microeconomics, and introductory microeconomics at the college or university level. Moreover, the text provides excellent preparation for more advanced study in economics, particularly intermediate microeconomics. The text has 25 chapters covering the full breadth of introductory microeconomics and review questions for each chapter. Also, for each chapter, there are questions written by two very fine younger A.P. economics teachers: Ms. Julie Meek of Plano, Texas, and Mr. Will Stifel of Charlotte, North Carolina. The questions are aimed at being highly representative of those used in the A.P. Microeconomics exam.
