Synopsis

Wieniawki's second concerto might have been started as early as 1856, but the work was not finished until shortly before its premiere, given in St. Petersburg on November 27, 1862 with the composer as soloist and the orchestra conducted by Anton Rubinstein. Dedicated to Wienawski's fellow violin virtuoso Pablo Sarasate, the work had to wait another 17 years (1879) before it was finally published.

The affordable study score offered here is a reduced-format reproduction of the freshly engraved and researched edition prepared by Clark McAlister which was previously issued by E.F. Kalmus in 2003 in large score and parts using the pseudonym Howard K. Wolf. The full score and orchestra parts are now exclusively available from Serenissima Music.
