Synopsis

Dr. Mace contends that the underlying basis of our marriage system in Western Civilization derives from the Christian ideal, and that this ideal cannot be understood apart from the Hebrew conception upon which it was based. David R. Mace (1907-1990) taught marriage and sociology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University. He founded the National Marriage Guidance Council of Great Britain, and with his wife, was founder and president of the Association for Couples in Marriage Enrichment in Winston-Salem.
