Did you know that Jesus has experienced all the various difficulties associated with forgiveness? In all probability He has gone through what you are going through right now. In this book, you will see how Jesus can identify with the offense against you. He understands the pain of betrayal, of name calling, of gossip, of physical assault, and much more because He has been there as Man. This book will enable you to run to the One who once occupied your shoes. As you examine His life of forgiveness, you will not only get clues about how He could forgive but you will indeed be motivated to also forgive those who offend you. His example of forgiveness in itself will inspire you and spur you on to do the same. Forgiveness then becomes even more achievable, for by His example and His grace have fortified you. SYNOPSES OF THE FIRST SIX CHAPTERS 1. Betrayal Jesus has proved to be the greatest Example for the believer of all generations, cultures and languages. This reality applies even in the area of forgiveness. The difficulty of forgiveness is lessened when we see how Jesus forgave. Whatever difficulty we may feel about forgiving our traitors, in many cases Jesus has felt the brunt of it; He has felt the cruelty of it; He has felt the pain of it; and now we can be encouraged to forgive because our Savior has gone before us. His very life has been not just our encouragement but a motivation to continue to forgive. We will look at how Jesus forgave those who betrayed Him. 2. Persecution Are you being persecuted for your faith? Or for your godly life style? We live in the world among people some of whom are not believers. Godly people have always been persecuted by ungodly people. You are not alone. Jesus has been there. Right from the very start of His life to His death, He was persecuted. You will learn how Jesus handled persecution. Looking at the life of Jesus. 3. Despised Many of us have been on the receiving end of being spited. We all have this God-given dignity within us. This is called a healthy self-respect. No one likes to be treated like a second class citizen. It makes it worse when we are spited by legitimate or obvious reasons. It has happened to our Lord Jesus Christ at a higher level. You will learn how Jesus handled it with wisdom and still forgave them. 4. Lack of Celebration, Lack of Recognition, Lack of Acknowledgment When we are not acknowledged especially by people who should know better can be painful. Sometimes, we are not given our due respect. Perhaps as a minister of the Gospel, someone does not want to see you in that light. Or perhaps, someone just deliberately chooses to strip you of every honor that you deserve. This lesson will supply tools of forgiveness to those who are not given proper recognition, or acknowledgement that they deserve. Jesus knows all about it for He has been there. We can learn from Him and be happier for it. 5. Ingratitude Ingratitude can be offensive. Gratitude may appear insignificant and we may even try to bury it as inconsequential but it nonetheless gnaws at the heart. Ingratitude is akin to the human nature. When every nerve around you is telling you not to forgive the sin of ingratitude, what do you do? You are not alone. Your Savior has trodden the path and He knows the feeling. Yet, through it all, He can lead you through the path of righteousness. 6. False Accusation Who wants to be lied about? Most of us have undergone the pain of false accusation. You will learn about the key steps towards forgiveness in spite of the false accusations levied against you. You will look at the example of Jesus on how He forgave those who falsely accused Him. When you are falsely accused and you have tried to bail yourself out and you cannot, you turn to the One who has been there. He knows how to give you His victory.
